How old do I need to be to hire a vehicle?
People in the UK need to be at least 25 to hire and drive most vehicles. However, you need to be at least 30 if you want the luxury of driving one of the vehicles in the executive range. If you are over 70, we might need to get permission from our insurance company before hiring a vehicle. Of course, we will do everything we can to make the process as smooth and simple as possible.
What documents will you need to see when I hire a vehicle?
Having all the documents prepared in advance helps to make the process much quicker and easier. You need to present your full UK driving licence, which could be the old paper style or a modern photo card. If you have a paper style license, you also need another type of photo ID. Please bring along your National Insurance Number so we can do a DVLA check online. Last but not least, please bring along one more type of ID like a phone bill or electricity bill.
What’s included in the price?
The basic quote is packed with value including insurance cover for one driver, VAT, two hundred miles allowance for each 24 hour hire period and breakdown cover within the UK. Additional mileage over the set two hundred miles is fixed at just 0.12p per mile. Each vehicle is regularly serviced and maintained to provide you with pure peace of mind.
We also offer a wide range of optional extras for you to take advantage of. You can save the hassle of having to return or collect your hire vehicle by opting for our special collection and delivery service. The cost is just £7.50 each way within a 10-mile radius of our office. For just £6.00 a day you can add an extra driver to your hire contract, while the fee is £22.00 for a whole week. Adding a Satellite Navigation System helps you to stay on track and it is available for just £10 a day or £30 a week. The little ones will be more comfortable if you add a child seat, which costs just £5 a day or £30 a week.
Can I use my foreign driving license to hire from you?
Sure, this shouldn’t be a problem at all. When you come to our office, please bring your foreign driving license as well as your passport and another type of ID. We will then confirm your home address if you are simply visiting the UK along with the address you are staying at in the UK. If you have lived in the UK for more than a year, you need to apply for a UK driving license.
Can I hire and drive a minibus?
If you have a class D1 on your driving licence, we will be happy to rent you a minibus. However, it is not possible to drive the minibus outside of the UK. The minibus hire must be for your own use and not be for work or hire purposes.
